There is still a gap between Wales and the UK when it comes to the second dose of the vaccine
Mark Isherwood, MS for North Wales
By Mark Isherwood, MS for North Wales Speaking in the Welsh Parliament Debate on the Welsh Government s 2021-22 Draft Budget, I emphasised the need for a recovery plan in the wake of Coronavirus which delivers jobs, skills and infrastructure in every corner of Wales, and expressed concern that this Draft Budget fails to provide the much needed financial revolution required to deliver this. I challenged the First Minister over Covid vaccination standby lists, after receiving reports from constituents of people not in the national priority groups being offered the jab in North Wales, and questioned the Education Minister over educational provision available to autistic pupils whose parents are finding it difficult to home school during the pandemic.
NORTH Wales MS Mark Isherwood has said it is both regrettable and concerning that the Emergency Bill, which could delay May’s Welsh General Election, has been approved as now drafted. At each stage of the Bill Mr Isherwood expressed concern that the Welsh Government has not said what situation the pandemic needs to be in before the First Minister formally requests a delay and yesterday he called for August 26th to be the latest date that the election could be delayed until. However, all his proposed amendments to the Bill were defeated and the election could now be put back by up to six months.
Mark Isherwood, MS for North Wales By Mark Isherwood, MS for North Wales Leading the Welsh Conservative Senedd debate on Support for palliative care during the pandemic , I highlighted the pandemic s impact on those providing end-of-life care and those who are terminally ill and their loved ones, emphasised the importance of high quality palliative care and bereavement support services, noted that the Welsh Government allocation to the Hospice Emergency Fund was less generous than equivalent funds in all other UK nations, and called on the Welsh Government to increase support for palliative care and bereavement support services. Questioning the First Minister, I called on him to justify his proposed Local Government Settlement, where Local Authorities in North Wales, with a higher proportion of older people, are set to lose out to South Wales yet again.
Mark Isherwood will stand again for the Welsh Conservatives in the 2021 Senedd Election. The Welsh Conservatives have selected Mark Isherwood as their lead candidate for the North Wales region ahead of the upcoming Senedd elections. Mark – the Shadow Minister for Local Government, Housing and Communities, Shadow Minister for Armed Forces and North Wales – was first elected as an Assembly Member for North Wales in 2003, before being re-elected in 2007, 2011 and 2016. Commenting on his re-selection, Mark said: “I am proud and honoured to once again have been given this great responsibility by the wonderful Welsh Conservatives of North Wales. “It has been an honour to have represented this region since 2003, and to fight our corner in regular engagement with Welsh Government ministers, and to proudly promote North Wales within the Senedd and beyond, and through my work with organisations and individuals.
