Sanford and Wells-Ogunquit schools go fully remote as COVID continues
SANFORD, Maine – A school district whose team colors are red and white turned all red this week, with students staying home and learning remotely as COVID-19 continues to spread throughout the region.
Sanford Superintendent of Schools Matthew Nelson on Wednesday announced in a text and automated phone call to families that the entire system would move from its hybrid, or “yellow,” model to its full distance-learning, or “red,” model through at least Monday, Jan. 25.
Nelson explained that he had made his decision following discussions with the Maine Center for Disease Control and the Maine Department of Education regarding two schools in the district that have been designated as sites of virus outbreaks.
