The Wells Gray Visitor Information Centre hosted the North Thompson Arts Council ‘Art Walk’ August 4 - 6. Smoke from nearby Wells Gray Park and Adams Lake wildfires and the hot weather didn’t detour visitors from strolling through canopied booths to view beautiful photography, paintings, hand knitted knomes, jewelry and wooden crafts, and art class demonstrations. Locals and tourists took the opportunity to explore the creative talent displayed and purchase pieces and engage with the talented artists.

A new fire burning near Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray Park is suspected to have been sparked by lightning early on Sunday, July 23. The fire near Jonah Lake, which is described as out of control, is estimated at 0.6 hectares and growing rapidly.
