Lobby Wrap: Cannabis sales and regulation targeted by lobbyists

On Monday, Tilray announced the completion of its deal with Aphria to become “a leading cannabis-focused consumer-packaged-goods company.” According to the news release on the company website, it wants to “have a complete portfolio of cannabis 2.0 products to strengthen its leadership position.” Meanwhile, the Association Québecoise de l’industrie du cannabis is also seeking discussions with the government about topics that include medical-grow licences, additional oversight programs, development of a marketing and branding regime, and the application of excise tax on medical cannabis.

Last week Moderna was set to deliver 855,000 vaccine doses, which, as of Monday morning, had yet to arrive. In an effort to reach out to the government to discuss the management of vaccine deliveries, the Massachusetts-based company has signed on with PAA Public Affairs Advisors, which has registered seven staffers to work on the file: Steve Van Groningen, Julie Groleau, Susan Cui, James Anderson, Felix Wong, Michael Von Herff and Noah Niznick.
