Applications available for 2021 in-person Boston Marathon

This year due to the ongoing pandemic, the 125th Boston Marathon will take place Oct. 11 with a reduced field of 20,000 in-person runners.
The town of Wellesley received a limited number of invitational entries to distribute to local charities and the War Memorial Scholarship Fund. Beginning April 20 through May 10, the town will accept requests from charities and individuals wishing to apply for these entries.
At its regular meeting May 17, the Select Board will designate which organizations and War Memorial Scholarship Fund runners will receive invitational entries for this year.
To be considered for an invitational entry, charities should complete the town of Wellesley 2021 Marathon Charity Application, found on the town website. Completed applications may be returned via email to Stephanie Hawkinson at shawkinson@wellesleyma.gov or drop the completed application in the secure drop

Wellesley volunteers interested in serving in elected town offices may pull nomination papers until Jan. 8, the town said in a statement.
Registered voters and residents are eligible to run for any open positions on boards and committees, according to the statement, which was posted to the town website. The townâs municipal election is scheduled for March 2, the statement said.
âDedicated volunteers make up Wellesleyâs unique municipal government structure,â the statement said. âGive back to our community by running for a local elected office in 2021.â
