Intimate partner violence is more than a daily occurrence in Huron County. It is an epidemic. It’s increased by 16 per cent in Ontario since 2020, explained Corey Allison, executive director of the Huron Women’s Shelter, Second Stage Housing, and Counselling Services.
The health, safety, and well-being of Huron County’s 60,000 residents is the focus of a new working group that launched phase one of a four phase plan to identify and address the risk factors facing individuals in the largely rural region.
