Low-risk Covid-19 centre set up in Penang ahead of mandatory screenings for foreign workers

GEORGE TOWN: A low-risk Covid-19 centre (LRCC) has been set up in Penang in preparation for mandatory screening for registered foreign workers in the state from Jan 1. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the LRCC is currently the largest center in Penang with a capacity of up to 432 beds and will be used to manage low-risk Covid-19 patients. The facility has been fully operational since Dec 22 and the patients in the center were managed around the clock by assistant medical officers and doctors. They will also be reviewed by an Internal Medicine Physician in consultation with Infectious Disease Consultants. Patients requiring step-up care will be transferred to Hospital Pulau Pinang, he said in his Facebook post.
