COVID-19: Weekend lockdown imposed in UP, night curfew in all districts ANI | Updated: Apr 20, 2021 16:27 IST
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 20 (ANI): In the light of the surge in COVID-19 cases across Uttar Pradesh, a weekend lockdown has been imposed, informed state Additional Chief Secretary Home Awanish K Awasthi on Tuesday.
The lockdown will come into effect at 8 pm on Friday and will continue till 7 am on Monday.
He also said that night curfew will remain imposed in all districts and only essential services would be allowed. Corona curfew will remain in force from Friday night till Monday morning and it will be strictly observed. The Chief Minister has given the order to impose night curfew in every district, Awasthi said.

The Uttar Pradesh government has imposed a weekend lockdown in the state to tackle soaring Covid-19 cases. Besides, the government has also ordered that night curfew will continue in all the 75 districts from 8 PM to 7 AM daily.Â
Awanish K Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, told ANI that all essential services will be exempted during the lockdown period and night restrictions. Weekend lockdown to be imposed in UP on Saturdays and Sundays. Lockdown will come into effect on Friday at 8 pm and continue till Monday at 7 am. Only essential services will be allowed. Night curfew will remain imposed in all districts, Awasthi said.

Lucknow: Amid an increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh, state Law Minister Brajesh Pathak has warned of a lockdown in Lucknow. In a letter written to Upper Chief Secretary (Health), Pathak said that if due attention was not given to the grave situation in Lucknow, the state capital may have to be forced into a lockdown.
In an elaborate letter, Pathak complained that people have been trying to reach the state Health Department, despite which, there is no official to answer the phone calls.
