week. paula hancocks is on the java sea where a big part of the rescue is being staged. reporter: to the west coast of borneo. preparations are under way for one of the search vessels to head out to the search location and try and locate some of those bodies and also some of the debris. this is a police boat and it s going to have search and rescue on board. some of the divers are going to be on board as well. they have already been out a couple of times but many of them say they couldn t get into the water. it was simply too dangerous. today they know they have waves of 4 meters or 30 feet high and it s simply to dangerous for them to get in. one diver would be giving up his life if he tried to do that. they are very frustrated and sometimes they have to sit and wait and hope for a break in the weather so they can try and bring back more bodies and bring some closures to those distraught families. paula hancocks, cnn. it must be anning agonizing .

last several days, chad myers and myself and others here in the cnn and cnn international weather center have been looking at this. the wave heights have been running around 13 feet, which is staggering. you don t get any visibility. the depth of the java sea is roughly in this area is roughly around 100-feet deep. so you get a surface wind that s 25 miles an hour, you get poor visibility and you ve got almost the perfect storm for the incapability to do a significant search. well, you wonder how the search has been so productive thus far, as some have said, given the weather conditions. so far, they have found 21 bodies in the past 24 hours. go ahead. well, and that is due to what your guest was also saying, is that you get currents here in addition to the water and you will see not just drift but there s significant movement that takes place here.
