Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): A skill upgradation training on handloom weaving under Samarth scheme was inaugurated at District Industries Centre (DIC) office in Tuensang on November 15 in the presence of Thungchanbemo Tungoe, ADC of Tuensang. Samarth scheme is sponsored by the Ministry of Textile, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Weavers Service Centre, government of India. Speaking on the occasion, Tungoe encouraged all the trainees to be serious and attentive. As the training is about skill up-gradation in handloom, he stated that it would focus on small scale unorganised handloom related sector. He also spoke on the importance of the scheme to upgrade their skills that would directly boost their trade. He stated that the scheme would help build their small-scale industries and subsequently generate employment and lead towards sustainability. Organised by Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans' CS Ltd, the exhibition will last till October 26 and is being held under the theme ‘My Handloom and Pride’.
