With more rain and cold temperatures on the way, both the city and county of Sacramento are activating additional resources for those who are homeless.
The ongoing wind and rain, expected to come with warmer temperatures, does not necessarily meet criteria for opening indoor shelters to serve vulnerable residents. Local governments plan to provide more shelter options as winter storms continue.
The city is opening the Outreach and Engagement Center on Auburn Boulevard in northeastern Sacramento and the lobby at the North Fifth Street shelter. Both will open Monday and Tuesday nights.
