Man hacked to death in Mirpur

A man was hacked to death allegedly by his rivals over establishing supremacy in Dhaka s Mirpur area this afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Shahin Uddin (40) of Mirpur-12, Wazed Ali, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Quoting locals, OC Wazed said a group of criminals led by Sumon attacked Shahin in front of his house around 4:45pm and injured him with lethal weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, a police team rushed to the spot and started preparing to send the body to a hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.

No public transports were seen on the roads. Only some private vehicles were seen plying the streets.
Vehicles were being stopped at checkpoints; passengers were being asked for their identities and reasons for being out on the streets during the lockdown .
Those who were walking towards their destinations were also being stopped and questioned by law enforcers.

Law enforcers were seen asking them to show movement pass issued by the police. Vehicles carrying goods and produce were allowed on the streets.
