Terry R. McAuliffe took the lead in the Democratic primary for the governor nominee last night throughout the state of Virginia including in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County. As of this morning, about 99% of all Virginia precincts are reporting.
Who else will be on the ballot for the upcoming election?
McAuliffe will be returning to the battle for the title of governor in November. He served as the Governor of Virginia previously from 2014 to 2018. He will be up against the Republican nominee Glenn Youngkin, a Harvard graduate and former CEO.
Hala Ayala came out of the night in the lead and will be the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor. Out of the 2581 of 2584 precincts reporting in the state, Ayala received 37.41% of the vote. The candidate with the second most votes was S. Sam Rasoul, with 24.30% of the vote.
