The determining factors
Six factors considered by U.S. News are college readiness, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate.
This year, about 17,860 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia were rated. In Ohio more than 800 schools were ranked.
Within several of the categories evaluated, Chippewa High School ranked No. 1 in the state in math and reading proficiency and No. 5 in the state in math and reading performance, Rodriguez said. It also excelled in college readiness, state-required tests, and advanced placement scores.
Chippewa High School s advanced placement course participation rate is 31%; it s minority enrollment is 4%; and 29% of its students are classified as economically disadvantaged.
