So the City of Kenora wants to start a podcast?
Honestly, good for them. I don’t believe this medium will be a way to restrict access to elected officials. The second we as the media in Kenora get referred to listening to the podcast for a news story rather than actually talking to someone, we’ll be on them like a hungry lake trout on a cold, January day.

I believe this podcast is another way for the city to communicate with the public. They already do that through advertisements in this very newspaper as well as the local radio stations. If this podcast changes that budget, I would be disappointed and again, will call them out on it.

It’s time for Kenora to take its collective tongue off the boots of police officers in town and hold them to a higher standard.
Anyone who has the potential to inflict harm on the public needs to be held accountable for their actions no matter the situation.

Last week, Kenora’s cops shot a teenager with an anti-riot gun and the town seemed to be more concerned with the headline of a story about it rather than the fact that the police used a considerable amount of force on a suspected robber. You can question authority (or journalists) all you want, but if you start having a problem with the truth then you’ve simply thrown all common sense out the window.
