This writer returned Sunday from my annual trek to upstate New York. The centerpiece, for the past 10 years, has been the Ruffed Grouse Society New York Grouse and Woodcock Hunt. It has been my pleasure to be one of the huntsmen AKA guides for this.
On the Ridge: Never on a Sunday?

Just recently I discovered that “On the Ridge” has been showing up in the pages of the Athol Daily News. This surprised me as Mike Roche’s excellent “Sportsman’s Corner,” a column much like my own, has appeared in the ADN for over a decade! But after giving it some thought, I began to realize that this is an extension of sorts to Mr. Roche’s already excellent commentary. Mike and I have been friends for so long now it’s hard to remember how, and when, we first met. Mike Roche is a great sportsman who for years has shared his experiences as an excellent hunter, angler and outdoorsman through his wonderful writings.
