It was designed to display the bill of rights, and it opened in 1936. Only the bill of rights occupied the case. We had to wait until 1952 to bring all three founding documents together. The story of how the declaration and constitution came to the archives is the one we never tire of hearing. Now i would like to introduce jessie krantz, historian of the National Archives.
