LYONS, N.Y. (WHEC) A 19-year-old has been arrested for assault and criminal possession of a weapon for his role in the incident on Monday at Wayne Central Middle School.
The Wayne County Sheriff s Office says Thomas Franco of Walworth had an altercation at the middle school where he brandished a weapon at school officials. A Wayne County Sheriff s Deputy School Resource Officer came to assist and was injured as he made the arrest. The incident led to a
lockdown of the school for a time, but no students or staff were injured.
Franco is now charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon and two counts of second-degree assault. He was remanded to the custody of the jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. He will face the charges in the Town of Ontario Court at a later date.
