it s going to be difficult to see the images happen right here because from this vantage point you won t be able to see the water receding. it s one of those things, it will be kind of difficult to see. obviously these people well high up, couple hundred feet so getting a safe vantage point of this. southern most island, hilo, they will be feeling the first effects. it s not just the shores that face where the earthquake happened that are at danger. these waves wrap all around the island, so on the north shores, around the western shores of hawaii. they potentially are going to be experiencing pretty dramatic water rises. lastly it s dependent on what the shoreline is like and what the topography is like. some areas may see smaller water rise, some may see higher depending on the slope of the
first sign that waves are coming. we ll be the first ones will be hit and and then oahu next. there are as we re hoping by the time it reaches oahu, the big island is going to take the brunt. maui is going to get it less and then populatioion here, models they are shining going to kawai picking up speed. the roads are supposed to be shut down but there are still people waiting for gasoline. gasoline supplies are running low and they are asking people not to get gasoline because they are running out. people are stocking up supplies.
in the morning. julie: so the waves expected there originally we were saying expected to be eight feet at hilo that was expected to hit shortly after 4:00, 11:00 local. we understand these waves aren t going to happen, they are more like surge that has could last hours and hours. what are people being told to do in the meantime, as they sit and wait? people are being told absolutely not use the water. they shut down the sewage and water systems on the other islands. on oahu, make sure that we don t the system. so it s very much don t do anything, stay where you are, stay put, be smart and be safe. julie: thank you very much.
