Lake Tahoe, Sierra and El Dorado County roadwork March 7 - 13

Submitted by paula on Sat, 03/06/2021 - 6:04pm SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The following is a list of the long term and short term projects the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled for the week around Lake Tahoe, in the Sierra and El Dorado County. At this time there is no work scheduled for the South Lake Tahoe area. LONG-TERM PROJECTS U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $53.6 million safety project in the Camino area to replace the existing concrete median barrier and fill in the gaps in the barrier, build an undercrossing, a wildlife crossing, make local road improvements and replace culverts. The project is expected to be completed in 2022. No traffic-interfering work is scheduled on the highway. Westbound Carson Road is closed between Carson Court and Sierra Blanca Road for bridge work. Motorists are being detoured onto westbound Highway 50 and back onto Carson Road.

Couple accused of stealing truck from State Police compound in Baker City

BAKER CITY — Oregon State Police arrested a Yakima, Washington, couple on Wednesday, March 3, on multiple charges, including the theft last month of a truck containing drugs and stolen property that had been kept as evidence at the OSP compound in Baker City. The two are accused of trying to destroy the vehicle after driving it through the locked fence at the OSP compound and continuing to the residential area of Baker City, where they allegedly set fire to the truck early on Feb. 22. Mark Timmy Caoile, 44, and Carole Daniel DeRoche, 45, who identified herself to police as Caoile’s fiancee, were arraigned on Thursday, March 4, in Baker County Circuit Court by visiting Judge Daniel J. Hill, who serves Umatilla and Morrow counties, on charges related to the investigation.

Somerville woman accused of crashing into pole while intoxicated in Pelham, N.H., police say Caroline Enos A Somerville woman was arrested early Saturday for allegedly crashing her car into a telephone pole while intoxicated in Pelham, N.H.,, police said. Jeanette Chavarin, 36, was driving east on Atwood Road shortly after 1:30 a.m. when her car veered off the roadway and slammed into a telephone pole, Pelham police said in a statement. The pole, located at the corner of Atwood Road and Fletcher Drive, snapped in half and leaned over Chavarin’s silver Honda Civic after the impact, police said.
