Historic Panama City Florida neighborhood, The Cove, eyed for new business

PANAMA CITY  The prospect of a community-oriented business in the heart of the Cove that would cater to locals seeking everything from gasoline and ice, to a taste of foods from around the community and a breath of fresh air to enjoy it in, has sparked fast and intense interest. Brothers Chris and Will Cramer and spouses Pam and Monica, respectively, made a simple post on The Cove Facebook page last week asking members, “Who’s craving this (with a picture of a business) at the corner of Cherry St. and Bonita on the site of the old Bailey s gas station?”

YEAR END: Remembering Panama City Florida deli owner

PANAMA CITY Taking credit was the one thing Christ Cordon would not do. Whenever a charity needed help or a worthy cause needed support, the owner of Cahall’s Deli in Panama City was there. Whenever local firefighters and police officers had to work on Thanksgiving, Cordon personally served them for free. “He quietly became a Bay County institution,” said Trey Hutt of Hutt Insurance in Panama City and a friend of Cordon’s for 35 years. “I can’t begin to name all the charities he helped … and he wasn’t the kind of guy to sit on a nonprofit board and get praise … he got to work, kept his head down and kept going.”
