Albany County Executive Dan McCoy announced Saturday an increase of 73 new positive coronavirus cases overnight. The total of cases now 19,935.
Among the new cases, 19 had close contact with positive cases, 47 did not have clear sources of infection at this time, and seven are healthcare workers or residents of congregate settings. There are now 592 active cases in the county, up from 584 yesterday.
McCoy also confirmed that there were five new hospitalizations overnight, and there are now 66 county residents currently hospitalized from the virus. There are currently 8 patients in ICU’s, down from 11 yesterday.
There were no new COVID-related deaths to report. The county’s death toll stands at 345 since the outbreak began.

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy announced Saturday that there are 65 new positive coronavirus cases overnight in the county. The total of cases now 19,503.
Among the new cases, 25 had close contact with positive cases, 34 did not have a clear source of infection, one traveled and five are healthcare workers or residents of congregate settings.
McCoy also reports that there was one additional COVID-related death in the county overnight, a woman in her 80’s. The county’s death toll now 339 since the pandemic began.
“While the number of new positive cases and new hospitalizations has gone down, we have unfortunately lost another Albany County resident to the virus. My condolences go out to every family who has lost a loved one to COVID-19 during this pandemic,” said County Executive McCoy. “We get one step closer to ending this crisis every day as more people get their vaccination shots.”

McCoy also confirmed two new COVID-related deaths in the county since Friday. A man in his 60’s and a man in his 70’s. The death toll for the county now stands at 293 since the outbreak began.
