Waterville's Operation HOPE provides access, transportation, to referrals to substance-use disorder treatment centers, and Augusta city officials are interested in establishing those services in Maine's capital city as well.
Nathaniel Rector, 27, was arrested early Sunday and charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, a Class C offense, and violating conditions of release, a Class E offense, according to police, who said Rector had been arrested earlier Sunday by state police.
Police responded on Monday morning to reports of a man that appeared to be 'sleeping' on the steps outside of an apartment building on Oak Street in Waterville, Maine.
