Firefighters tackling out of control bonfire near Bexhill | Hastings and St Leonards Observer

Firefighters have been called to a large fire in Bexhill. Wednesday, 5th May 2021, 5:18 pm Crews from Battle and Bexhill are currently at the scene of an ‘out of control bonfire’ in Watermill Lane, Bexhill. A spokesman for East Sussex Fire said they were called at 3.42pm to attend a fire in the open. The spokesman added: “Firefighters from Battle and Bexhill are currently in attendance. Carol Smith found dead in Bexhill with gunshot wounds

THE body of a woman found in Bexhill has been identified as Carol Smith. Police say a post-mortem examination gave a provisional cause of death for the 75-year-old as an injury consistent with gunshot wounds . Police and paramedics discovered her body after being called to an address in Watermill Lane at 1.45am on Saturday. The body of Carol Smith was found at an address in Watermill Lane, Bexhill, in the early hours of Saturday morning A 78-year-old man, who is known to her, was also found at the scene with a serious injury. He was arrested in connection with the incident and taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

He was found with “significant injuries” police said, and has been taken to hospital in a “serious” condition.
