bill taylor, deputy assistant secretary of state george kent, to lead off these historic hearings? because their credentials are impeccable. and i think that they will start to make the case that what you had here was, in john s case, a third rate bribery in the watergate hearing. this was a third rate burglary. this is a third rate bribery case. and i think these two very well credentialed diplomats will be able to make the case that what this was, was essentially a solicitation of a bribe by the president of the united states. what do you think? good points. they were willing to come forward. the foreign services is playing a very unique role here. they have the knowledge. the background. they certainly have the credentials. and they are making powerful witnesses. the argument that republicans will make that both of these witnesses said they didn t have any direct contact, they didn t have conversations about any of this specifically with the president. only other officials.
joins us, john. congratulations on your new show. ed: appreciate you coming on. i want to talk about this list that devin nunes and the republicans put out, we first broke it on fox and friends. what stands out to you about the list? we flashed a poll about impeachment that we ll get to in a moment. one thing that stands out. we ll go through a point by point. hunter biden is on the list and seems he s an important witness. what stands out none of them will get to testify. the 80 million, you know what that number represents. ed: no. when john dean testified in watergate hearing. it s estimated over five days, 80 million people watched. this is not lost on the minority, majority or the president. this is a huge media event which is going to give you every opportunity to shape public opinion. these people are not testifying. ed: to your point, i speak with andy mccarthy, fox news contributor, former prosecutor himself. he thinks this is going to be the impeachment show more than
this point that would support articles of impeachment against this president? yes, jim, we have. solicitation alone is a criminal act. that s what the president did. it is shown right there in the transcript. it s not just a smoking gun. it s the actual bullet. that is what we re hearing, and then you have this. what you see on your screen is live news. it s going to happen during this hour. speaker pelosi in a late in the day announcement that she is coming forward after her meeting with her own caucus about impeaching trump and where the road is from here. she s going to say something from the podium you re looking at. and we will bring it to you. a lot of people interested, some people afraid. i m joined now by former prosecutor rossi. criminal defense attorney who represented mr. papadopoulos in the muler probe and records professor brittany cooper.
the white house would like nothing more than to be able to get their story straight by hearing what these witnesses have to say. and there are good and important investigative reasons not to let one witness know what another witness has said. that s exactly right. it s prosecution 101. you want to separate st witnesses so they can t get their stories straight. i think that fiona hill s testimony obviously cooborated everything that we ve been hearing about. especially i think what gene was referring to, the ig or/and parnas indictments said. part of the indictment said they were working with giuliani in the shadow or rogue diplomacy to get yovanovitch out of that position as ambassador. and hill corroborated that and she was a fierce advocate saying that she stood up and said this is not right. she did not like what she was seeing and it s all consistent with the narrative that we ve pae heard about.
clear, john bolton is not a hero of the democrats or liberals. john bolton is about as conservative as they come. but a conservative rliberal is not really the issue. the issue is what s going to happen to a president that is free-lancing with a rogue secretary of state and everybody is beginning to ask follow the money. this is what we heard in the nixon watergate hearing. i m curious about your view of the bolton thing, though. well, bolton is somebody who is close to the president. the president hired. and for bolton to say this is going to be a hand grenade that could blowup, be careful, that is very, very significant because bolton has seen exactly what s going on, bolton also has named other people inside the white house, the chief of staff is part of what might be a conspiracy. bolton names him as part of something that s going on that could blowup in everybody s f e
