Christmas morning fire leaves Halfmoon woman dead | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS HALFMOON  Town resident Dorothea Roberts, age 73, was pronounced dead early Christmas morning at the scene of a fire at her single-family home. State Police confirmed Friday that Dorothea Roberts was at home Christmas Eve with her daughter Evelyn Spika, 53, when a fire broke out. “Spika woke to heavy smoke but was able to get out of the single family residence in time,” state police said in a news release. “Spika and responding Troopers were unable to re-enter the residence due to heavy smoke and fire.” Halfmoon Fire Department and Clifton Park-Waterford Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the fire.
