Western Railway said that it plans to install Water Vending Machines across railway stations with an aim to provide clean and hygienic water to the passengers
Ten hybrid water purifiers developed by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre will be installed at CSMT, Sandhurst Road, Dadar and LTT stations as a pilot project to provide clean drinking water to the passengers free of cost, according to reliable sources. Each unit is capable of purifying 500 litre of water per hour.
The Western Railway plans to install 97 new Water Vending Machines (WVM) across Mumbai Central Division. Earlier 99 such machines were installed by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), but most of them were removed and those that were non-functional are in the process of being removed.
