Minister Mchunu and delegation descend in Western Cape to assess the status of water and sanitation

Today marked the first day of the ministerial delegation working visit in the Western Cape. From 24 November to Friday 26 November 2021, Minister of Water and Sanitation Senzo Mchunu along with Deputy Ministers Dikeledi Magadzi and David Mahlobo are in the Western Cape Province at Marriot Stellenbosch Protea Hotel. The objective of the visit is to assess the state of water and sanitation in the province. The 3-day working visit will entail Minister Mchunu engaging with the Premier of the Western Cape Alan Winde, the executives of the Western Cape Water Services Authorities, sector stakeholders, Water Users’ Associations etc.

Project Update: Water for food security: Enhancing the resilience of host communities in supporting internally displaced persons and returnees in Yemen (OSRO/YEM/805/KUW) Format Context The war in Yemen remains one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises, with 80 percent of Yemen’s population in need of humanitarian assistance. Water scarcity is one of the most pressing issues in the country, aggravated by six years of uninterrupted conflict and its destructive effects on water infrastructure. In this context, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) partnered with the Government of Kuwait to enhance the resilience of host communities, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees in Yemen.
