Portales fireworks beat the storm   Kevin Wilson Fireworks light up the sky Sunday in Portales. The city s annual firework show at the Industrial Park Softball Complex was pushed up 45 minutes in anticipation of a storm that hit just as the show concluded. PORTALES - Mother Nature may have pushed the Portales fireworks celebration out the door a little quicker than anticipated, but no other issues were seen as the community celebrated Independence Day with a 15-minute fireworks show Sunday at the Industrial Park softball complex. Karl Terry, executive director of the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce, said official crowd counts aren t taken, but the population felt slightly bigger than prior years with a delay in the Clovis show adding some extra spectators to the rolls.
