hospitalizations and sometimes surgery, and in very severe cases, people have died. last year there were 74 total cases, and 17 deaths from the infection, and most in lee county, florida. why are we seeing new cases in florida? i don t have the data off hand to see if we are having an increase in cases, but we know this is a bacteria that exists in the marine environment and in florida we have a lot of contact particularly in the summer with the marine environment, and you have beachgoers and people swimming in lakes and we know there will be a certain amount of people that may suffer these types of infections. a lot of people in florida will go to the beach if they have access to it, and they will go to the lake and go to all kinds of water areas. how do you get this thing? is it everywhere? is it, you know can you see
