Watching Miz try to duck the match all night wasn’t exactly the greatest sports story ever told, but that doesn’t mean Bobby Lashley’s WWE title win isn’t worth celebrating.
Almost 16 years after his debut in the company, Lashley became the third Black man to hold the WWE championship, achieving the company’s Triple Crown in the process. At 44 years old, he’s the second oldest person to win the title for the first time after his boss, Vince McMahon. Lashley’s held a brand/company’s top prize in three different decades - the ECW championship in 2006 - 2007, the TNA/Impact title multiple times in 2010s, and now the WWE belt in 2021.
