and we heard from some senate republicans who have said they don t like what the president said and the call wasn t proper, but if it falls in line with what we heard from the house, if the president speaks out angrily, if essences that some senators are not defending his actions, then this could be a completely different direction. i think mitch mcconnell senses that, which is why he wants it to end quickly. quickly on this point, donald trump is doing a lot of the work for months, meeting with republican senators, not specifically on impeachment, but he has been working this. mcconnell saying he will closely coordinate gets a lot of attention, donald trump had groups of republican senators over for awhile. if you don t think it never came up, hey, guys, if the house i m impeaches me, he has been doing work to keep everybody aligned.
it s pretty clear that the court s four liberals are going to say daca is valid and should remain and the court s four most conservative justices probably will disagree. the question justice john roberts. the basic point of the defenders of daca is this, that the way the trump administration wanted to shut daca down wasn t proper, that what the administration did is say, well, we re not saying whether we like it or not. we re saying we had to shut it down because it s illegal. what the supporters of daca are saying here is that s not the way it should work. the trump administration should have to explain why it wants to shut it down and basically own the decision, but that by trying to evade that, they improperly shut it down. that s the essence of their argument. the real question for the supreme court is simply, well, when the administration does something like that, can the

trump went outside the chain of command. he went to lewandowski because he was not someone currently serving in the administration, because those people, he tried to get don mcgahn to fire mueller, he was trying to get people who were actually his official advisers to do his dirty work for him and limit sessions and the russia investigation, have sessions unrecuse himself, and they weren t doing it so he went to lewandowski because he was a private citizen and you could keep it sort of on the downlow. that s exactly the time that executive privilege should not apply. he made a choice to go outside the chain of command in doing this, because i think he knew it wasn t proper. and that s a choice he made. and now to invoke executive privilege is just particularly absurd so can jerry nadler, once lewandowski sits there and says i won t go beyond what s already in the mueller report, and he s footnoted in it throughout, can jerry nadler find a judge to
i don t think any of us were referring to it in that way. the congress, republicans in congress, said no. to have a briefing like the president wanted with just one party was not right. and so it wasn t just some of the democrats saying that wasn t proper. a lot of republicans were saying that as well. so i saw the kind of pushback that we need to have. but it needs to happen more often. when the president says things that are just totally wrong, it s the responsibility of members of congress, particularly those in the president s party, to stand up and say that is not right. truth is not relative. and there are no alternative facts here. i have seen instances where we haven t done that well, and we have to do it better. it seems as if you and i have had a lot of discussions in the last year, it seems as if you ve gotten more alarmed while many of your colleagues publicly act less alarmed, particularly your colleagues on the republican side of the aisle. is that the way it is behin
