but they also said we re going to take this discussion to a different level and we know we almost have to win to make people hear us. and they did, they achieved both. so megan rapinoe has been talking about equal pay as has all the team. but last night she was on anderson s show talking about why it was so important so let s listen to that. yeah, it s so much more than the money. obviously the money and the compensation part is a big piece and the thing that gets talked about the most, but it s really about the am vestment in the game. we re talking marketing dollars and branding and investment of youth, investment of players, investment in the coaching staff. i don t think that s there, i don t think that s ever been there. i think the mens side of sports just in general is seen as this exciting opportunity, business opportunity that needs to be invested. and how cheap can we do this while keeping them happy and what sort of incremental changes can we make. i thought that was an
much? because they re really good and they all get along so well so that makes them be a good team, and then they got their good result and won the world cup. what to you makes them stand out from other teams you ve watched over the years? i think at the end of the day it s just you can tell they like each other on and off the field. they have each others backs and it shows, and so as a parent to girls it s nice of them to see that. what does it mean to have role models for your daughter for your group of girls? it s great. it gives them something to aspire to, a sport they love, and they follow it, and i m happy about it. reporter: and page s favorite player is tobin heath, and they head down the road where they colleague brooke baldwin is camped out.
families, so many women are suffering from pay inequality. this is one of the glaring examples. the womens team won. they get higher ratings than the men and bring in more revenue. but we re changing hearts and minds. i hope this parade will help people to feel equality, but let s put our money where our mu mouth is. are you sensing resistance to this? do you think as president you would have to prod congress? oh, yeah, congress should have done this a long time ago. this is not the first time the issue came up with our soccer teams. congress has to act. again, executive action if they won t. but here s the big piece, the paycheck fairness act. we banned the question of salary history here in new york because it was hurting women. it was being used as a tool, sometimes inadvertently,
