Karachi [Pakistan], January 19 (ANI): The annual bilateral summit of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been delayed due to a serious disagreement between Pakistan and China over the Belt and Road Initiative.
The last meeting of CPEC s principal decision-making body, the Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) was held in November 2019. The 10th JCC meeting was scheduled in early 2020, but remains postponed, writes Adnan Aamir for Nikkei Asia.
In the past, the JCC meetings have always been held on time and China has agreed to Islamabad s requests most of the time. However, the delay of this meeting is leading experts to believe that the CPEC is derailing.

ISLAMABAD, Dec 26th (Gwadar Pro) - CPEC Business Council has proposed establishment of domestic petrochemical cracker in its first meeting held under the chair of Abdul Razak Dawood, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment at Board of Investment (BOI).
15-member CPEC Business Council said petrochemical and its domestic production at competitive prices require establishment of petrochemical cracker and it is a best possible option to include this project into CPEC.

ISLAMABAD: Smart Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are most likely to be established in pursuance of Industrial Cooperation (IC) under the pragmatic framework of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Gwadar Pro reported on Friday.
Smart SEZs aims to make new ground in developing pharma, health and artificial intelligence industries.
According to the report, serious deliberations are going on to define their theoretical and practical modalities.
As per fresh brainstorming sessions, joint ventures between Pakistan and China will be the key features for all smart SEZs.
