Wasilla police officer injured in gun battle

Wasilla, Alaska (KINY) - An Anchorage man could face numerous charges after he allegedly fled a Wasilla Police Officer at high speeds and fired shots at police Thursday afternoon. The police officer injured was not immediately named. A female passenger in the suspect s vehicle was also injured. Patrick Mars II, 57, was wanted previously for four felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant. The gun battle took place in the parking lot of the Valley Country Store at Bogard Road and Seldon Road. After the officer was injured, the suspect fled the scene on foot. Law enforcement converged on the area and located Mars in a nearby subdivision.
