Lansing Capitol protest live updates: No violence, no arrests
Detroit Free Press
Armed demonstrations across America s state capitols are expected leading up to Wednesday s inauguration of Joe Biden as president, according to the FBI. That will include Michigan, where demonstrations occurred Sunday at the Lansing Capitol building. The Michigan State Police stepped up its visibility at the Capitol in Lansing after the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., and after the FBI s warning.
No incidents, no arrests
As of 3 p.m., there were no violent incidents nor arrests at the Capitol, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor said, as almost all protesters had already left the building and its surrounding area. U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin said the lack of activity, despite the expectations of a larger crowd, was by design.
