An annual free Christmas dinner will be held in Washington this year, albeit with some changes to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The Washington First Assembly of God Church at 1602 East Washington Street is hosting their Community Christmas Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Friday. The dinner will be offered through carry-out or delivery only, and Pastor Dave Watson requests that those who would like a meal to call ahead of the event. While the meal has served around 250 people in the past, Watson estimates that this year’s meal will serve over 300 people with even more volunteers and businesses eager to help out, “I think most folks are just saying, ‘Hey, we want to help people this holiday season,” because we know for this time even though most people have a happy holidays, we hear that or we hear ‘Merry Christmas,’ for some this is a very difficult time.
