The first week to pick up qualifying papers for the next election has seen more than a few potential candidates show up to the Washington County Election Commission Office. Oct. 16 was the first day that partisan and independent candidates for assessor of property, three seats in District 2 for the county’s Board of Education and for constable in Districts 1, 2 and 3 in Washington County could pick up their qualifying papers to appear on Tennessee’s March 5 presidential primary ballot.

Veteran services office is moving to Jonesborough courthouse | Local News

The Washington County Veterans Services Office is moving from its current location in the George P. Jaynes Justice Center to a larger space in the Washington County Courthouse within the next two weeks. Work is now underway to renovate the former Washington County Election Commission offices on the third floor of the Jonesborough courthouse to serve as the new home for veterans services.
