Provincial police recaptured an inmate early Sunday who had escaped from a healing lodge about 90 kilometres north of Montreal.
David Everett Alexson, 51, walked away from the Waseskun Healing Lodge in St-Alphonse-Rodriguez on Wednesday. He was serving a prison sentence for two counts of second-degree murder. He also has convictions for arson, escape from lawful custody, prison breach with intent, assault against a peace officer and breaking and entering with intent.

The Sûreté du Québec arrested the fugitive at 4:45 a.m. in St-Alphonse-Rodriguez, said spokesperson Sergeant Claude Denis. No one was injured during the escape or arrest, he said.

A 51-year-old man serving a sentence for two counts of second-degree murder and escaping prison is being sought by police after walking away Wednesday evening from the minimum-security Indigenous healing lodge where he was being held.
David Everett Alexson was seen by staff walking away from the Waseskun Healing Lodge in St-Alphonse-Rodriguez, about 75 kilometres north of Montreal in the Lanaudière region, around 6 p.m.

The RCMP and Sûreté du Québec were immediately notified of Alexson’s escape by Correctional Service Canada and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
