our coverage now begin wasas abc s scott goldberg, good morning to you, scott. reporter: good morning. the stock market will greet the day in pretty rough shape. liking wounds by another terrible foul and surrounded by stores that won t go away. reporter: for the third straight day it moved more than 400 points and this time went back down, way down, 519 points, almost 5%. the dow hasn t had a three-day run like this since november 2008 during the economic crisis. it s not a full-blown panic yet but it could get there. reporter: this time, it was europe s fault, or at least concerns from europe with wires that france could use its aaa credit rating like the u.s. did. this is how skiddish and temperamental the market is. it reacts not only to factual aspects of what s going on, but also rumors. reporter: the unfortunate truth back home is contributing.

welcome back, everybody, time for your daily dose of entertainment new, yes. guess who is l ling their talk show out of a job? the recession is hitting everybody. tbs canceled the george lopez show. i like him. he s a funny guy. they announced it yesterday. the interesting thing, here, too. it was coming out now, looked like conan did to george what jay did to conan on abc. when lopez first debuted, he was on at 11:00. conan comes along last year, pushes george to midnight. conan comes on at 11:00 and george s show took a 40% hit in the ratings. ratings for neither show, conan s or george s have been that great. conan is still around. i love conan, too, i hope he does well. viewership is down for both shows, so george is out of there. bottom line, nobody s watching.

it s a sin to even talk about boyfriends andndirlfriends. reporter: suddenly caused old mories to come back. it was gut-wrenching and i got up and ran to the bathroom and started vomiting. reporter: her revelation eventually led her to testify against jeffs for assaulting two other underage girl, now through a men industry called holding out help, she guides others to escape from the church. as they adjust to the outside world. she s a mom and finally at peace. i feel stronger. reporter: clayton sandell, abc new, salt lake city. now jeffs is sentenced to life in prison for assaulting those underage brides that he took. prosecutors said he had 24 of them. this wasn t one or two young girls. he s 55 years old now. he won t be eligible to parole until he s 100 years old. just the amount of control he had over that community and those young girls. he did a lot of damage to a lot of young girls.

hard, shares of toyota and nissan both went down. to give you a perspective. on the extent of the decline we ve seen on the markets, the nikkei has fallen more than 8% in less than a week. it sounds like more bad news for exporters who have been copying with the yen s surging value already. so what s next for the exporters? reporter: there s no sign of relief just yet, but we did hear the prime minister weigh in saying the government would consider actions to address what he called a one-sided move in the yen. the government, as you know, has been firing warnings about a possible intervention all week to keep the currency from surging against the dollar. that hasn t done much. just a reminder, less than exactly a week ago, they intervened and sold billions of yen, but, again, that hasn t done much. we ll have to keep an eye on that one. reporter: abc s akiko fujita reporting live. thanks.
