据新京报报道，7月22日晚，河南鹤壁浚县新镇镇彭村一处卫河河堤决口，红岩运输抢险队十几辆卡车当晚紧急出发，支援抢险。李永祥和车队其他司机一起，将40吨石料装上车，准备倒入河中。但石块没能阻挡水流，投车成了迫不得已的选择。为了填堵决堤口，李永祥的新车刚开三个月多一点，车身仍锃亮，就被他亲手开进了河里。
