Hundreds of supporter gathered at the Healing Totem pole at the Wharf on Front street, and sang traditional songs in unison as they marched along 2nd Avenue towards the Sacred Fire Pit at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Center.
The Warrior Walkers formed in 2021 when a handful of Yukoners decided to embark on a 2,100-kilometre walk from Whitehorse to Kamloops, B.C. This year, they walked from Dawson City to Whitehorse.
The Warrior Walkers are walking from Dawson City, Yukon to Whitehorse to honour the lost children and survivors of the residential and day school systems. The group left Dawson City on Sunday and plans to arrive in Whitehorse on Sept. 30, the national day of truth and reconciliation.
