A pair of incumbents appear to have secured reelection to four-year terms on the Gurnee-based Warren Township High School District 121 school board, according to unofficial results late Tuesday night.
Some races for Northwest suburban and Lake County municipal offices and school boards have generated controversy and more than a little public attention ahead of Tuesday s election.
Three seats are up on the district’s Board of Education, and only one current board member whose term is expiring, Brianna Powvens, is running for reelection. Lizzy Helgren and Joseph De Rosa, both board members since 2017, are not seeking reelection to the board.
Board members Tony DeMonte and Steve Carlson are running to retain their seats, while fellow incumbent Thomas Drake is not running for reelection. The challengers include Beth Pope, Mark Piszkiewicz, Lynn Ulrich and Mercedes Shackleford.
