Middlesex Sherrif s take 250 individuals wanted on warrants into custody in 2020

Submitted to the Billerica Minuteman Submitted to the Billerica Minuteman More than 250 individuals wanted on outstanding warrants in jurisdictions across Massachusetts, and beyond, were taken into custody in 2020 due in part to the efforts of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) Warrant Apprehension Unit (W.A.U.), officials announced today. The W.A.U. is comprised of three full-time deputy sheriffs and a member of the Lowell Police Department.  The unit is also supported by other MSO divisions including the Inner Perimeter Security (IPS) Unit and intelligence analysts. In total, W.A.U. members made – or assisted in – 266 arrests alongside members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) and other law enforcement partners.

Department spokesman Ryan Walsh said a team of local, state, county and federal law enforcement arrested Tyshawn Jordan, 19, of Moore, South Carolina, at a house on Fernbank Road after learning he was staying there. Police executed a search warrant at 6:30 a.m. The agencies included the city police department’s Warrant Apprehension Unit, the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, the state police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Unit, and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force.

Police say the Warrant Apprehension Unit arrested a 57 year old man on a probation violation after previous cases involving firearms and drugs. He was released on bail with the stipulation that he wear a GPS Tracking Device. Apparenly, according to police, the defendant took off the bracelet when he was arrested again. The Assistant District Attorney handling the case sought to have the defendant s bail revoked last week. The Judge instead released him on the condition that he wear a GPS ankle bracelet even though he recently removed his court-ordered ankle bracelet.

Springfield police charge Christian Barbee with rape; indecent sexual assault of minor Updated Jan 13, 2021; SPRINGFIELD - Springfield police arrested a 35-year old Springfield man with a history of sexual assault charges on Tuesday afternoon, charging him with sexually assaulting two underage girls during the fall, police said. Christian Barbee is charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person age 14 or over, and single counts of rape, kidnapping, and witness intimidation. He was arrested just before 1 p.m. at Buckingham Place and Buckingham Street in the city’s McKnight neighborhood by members of the Springfield police Warrant Apprehension Unit, and officials with the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and the state police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.
