Local non-profits and charities are busier than ever - and could be running short on funds. Inflation, lost income during the Covid Lockdown and now this freeze will put some families over the edge. Major Rob Webb of the Houston Area Salvation Army says their services are needed more than ever.
As winter is fast approaching and snow is already falling, many may be wondering where they can go if they lose power, are homeless or need to get warm.
well-oiled machine here in poland, a border crossing. new tents are going up just right next to me. one after another when just days ago really there was not anything here. some of these tents are warming stations. others provide food and much-needed clothing just steps across the border. volunteers have come in from all over the country and all over the continent. a group of friends i met traveled from england. they drove here with a truck and an entire trailer full of supplies with more than $5,000 they would give to one of these charities. we are going to drop everything off now and help where we can and then we have from here it will take 30 hours home. we rotate the driving between the four of us. 1.5 million refugees have fled ukraine through poland. 2/3 of the people are kids. today i met a grandmother.
