The Kicks Band pays tribute the late jazz icons Chick Corea and Sammy Nestico with a return to normalcy concert. Selections include: Spain, La Fiesta, Wind Machine, Hayburner, Warm Breeze, Freckle Face, as well as Torque(Baylock), Backrow Politics(Goodwin) and Embraceable You(arr. Barduhn). Admission is free. Concert begins at 7:30 with the Farmington Middle School Jazz Ensemble. MAC has dropped its mask requirement, so join us!

Warm Breeze recorded by Larry Krause over last three years
Larry Krause is no stranger to the album recording process.
The local western roots country crooner has six on his recording artist resume, and has just added a seventh – Warm Breeze, consisting of 15 Western Roots tunes “that reflect the people, places and times that create the West we live in today.”
Krause, who is based out of Paddockwood, said it was a departure from his previous experience writing and recording new music, which is usually done quite quickly. Warm Breeze, though, is a project more than three years in the making.
Allmyxsliventexas, who has captured eight of his 10 starts this year, and Frewil Dakota Sven, who upset him in last week’s Open Pace, head the cast for Saturday night’s (April 24) featured $10,000 Lloyd Arnold Pace at Cal-Expo.
Watch and Wager LLC will present nine races with first post set for 5:45 p.m. PT.
Allmyxsliventexas has been burdened with the assigned No. 10 post position in three of his last four starts, including last week’s foray, but does his work from the No. 5 slot on Saturday for owners and breeders Wayne and Rod Knittel, trainer Bob Johnson, and pilot Nick Roland.

Making timeless music was a lifelong calling throughout the eight-decade career of acclaimed composer and arranger Sammy Nestico. His music elevated albums by artists as varied as the Count Basie Orchestra, Michael Bublé, Barbra Streisand, Phil Collins, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich and Bing Crosby, and also contributed to the scores for “The Color Purple,” “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Heaven Can Wait,” “Hawaii Five-O” and dozens of other films and TV shows.
A longtime Carlsbad resident, Nestico remained musically active until shortly before he began receiving hospice care in October at his home. The nine-time Grammy Award-nominee passed away in his sleep there Sunday morning.
