Former Warisan Moyog assemblywoman Jennifer Lasimbang lambasted a proposal by GRS district head Kenny Chua to make it mandatory for voters to bring birth certificates on polling day.
“The proposal has no logic and an extra burden on the voters. It only shows that they (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) do not trust the existing system of the Election Commission (EC) and don’t believe in the electoral roll,” said the former State Assistant Minister of Education and Innovation.
Kenny, Senator Datuk John Ambrose and NGOs have called for birth certificates to be produced, in addition to Mykads, to ensure that only genuine voters in the area are allowed to vote
