ROCHESTER – The suspect in a hit-and-run on North Avenue in which a pedestrian was seriously injured Saturday, Feb. 20, has a revoked license and three open cases for driving after suspension, according to the police report.
Darren Moran, 27, of Middleborough was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon-motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, operating after license suspension-subsequent offense, marked lanes violation, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He was ordered held on $10,000 bail following arraignment Monday, Feb. 22, in Wareham District Court. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for March 17.
Marion Man Faces Animal Cruelty Charge
A Marion man faces charges after police executed a search warrant at his home and found an emaciated dog being kept inside a cage, according to Marion Police Chief Richard Nighelli.
Brandon R. Davis, 26, was arrested Thursday night and charged with cruelty to an animal and possession of ammunition without a firearms ID card, Nighelli said in a news release.
On Wednesday, Feb. 3, Animal Control Officer Susan Connor received a complaint about a pitbull-type dog being kept by Davis inside a Mill Street home. The party expressed concern for the well-being of the animal, which was reportedly confined in tight quarters and only let outside a few times per day to urinate or defecate. The tipster also reported unsanitary conditions inside the dog s cage, and said the dog was emaciated.

MARION A man was arrested on Feb. 4 on charges of animal cruelty and unlicensed possession of ammunition.
According to Marion Police, Brandon Davis, 26, was arrested after Marion Animal Control Officer Susan Connor received complaints regarding a pitbull-type dog that was allegedly being kept by Davis inside a home on Mill Street.
Connor went to the home on Feb. 3 and saw a dead chicken on the ground outside. Connor attempted to speak with Davis regarding the complaint, but was unable to make contact with anyone inside of the home.
MIDDLEBORO An 18-year-old man from Hanson has been arrested for allegedly shooting at three people in a parking lot in Middleboro early Thursday morning.
Matthew Noonan was arrested after reports of gunshots at 47 Wareham St. in a parking lot at Herring Run park near the Nemasket River at approximately 1 a.m. Police didn t see anyone on scene, but found two 9mm shell casings on the ground, according to Middleboro police.
Later, police responded to a separate call about a disturbance and found two of the victims involved in the earlier incident, a 20-year-old Wareham man and a 22-year-old Middleboro man. The hood of the car they were in was struck by a bullet.
Two New Bedford men are accused of stealing a large amount of merchandise from a Wareham big-box store and transporting the goods to a business address in New Bedford.
Oscar Ortiz, 46, and Eric Ramos, 34, both of New Bedford, were taken into custody Thursday, according to a news release from the Wareham Police Department.
Wareham Police detectives say on Jan. 14 they were contacted by the Organized Retail Crime Investigation Unit of Lowe’s regarding an ongoing larceny issue at their Wareham store. The detectives began a joint investigation with the team from Lowe’s. They conducted several days of investigation and determined that a man who was contracted to clean the store was stealing items and transporting them to New Bedford, Wareham police said in a news release. The stolen items were allegedly being brought to 1407 Acushnet Ave. and being offloaded into a business at that location.
