May 3, 2021 MAKOTI – A 43-year-old Minot man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash north of Makoti Sunday afternoon, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Derek Montoya was traveling south on Ward County Road 9 when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadway about 1:20 p.m. Montoya, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle, which overturned. He was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot by air ambulance. The Ward County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate with the assistance of the highway patrol.
