rules to discount confidential surveys and studies, medical studies, which means eliminating a lot of the data on which climate change decisions, water pollution and other health issues are decided. yeah. while we re busy talking about stormy daniels, there are actual storms out there that we need the government to keep an eye on. and what we re seeing across this administration really is a war on science. just came out last week that the department of health & human services had employees trading e-mails about how to suppress scientific data about between pregnancy prevention. we had the chief scientists at many agencies replaced by non-scientists, by political figures. now this decision by scott pruitt to suppress the best science, including science about life and death matters that includes confidential medical information to suppress all that for the kind of science that deregulation forces want to have. so from epa, interior, hhs, all across the board we re seeing a
away from climate change and moved them to the community. sandy marsh has the story. our plan will end the epa. we have a blizzard outside, there is no warming. this is a landmark event. do you see it as a war on science? there is definitely a battle going on. he says after 20 years at the epa, he was one of the employees to resign in protest at the science approach. what would make you give that snup. the lives of the community i come from and the lives i served. reporter: and you felt they were under jeopardy with this new administration? i know they re in jeopardy. reporter: he says he was silenced after speaking about climate change. i was reassigned to an accounting office in the department. reporter: interior said it moved him to create seasoned leaders with broad and diverse experience. every president since franklin roosevelt has had a science adviser except for this
it is not. his differences with scientific consensus are now leading experts to protest what they call trump s war on science. we spoke to some scientists who are going so far as to put away their lab coats to run for office. reporter: in the climb to the 2018 congressional race, a new kind of first-time candidate is emerging. i would say scientists are angry, they re frustrated, they re concerned because this is our life s work. reporter: geologist jess phoenix who spent her career chasing botanical movement around the world, now democratic candidate for congress for incumbent republican steve knight. he calls global warming science, just like president trump. it s given us not only something to fight for but a
